Renowned designer Shunsuke Ohe has transformed a 90-year-old warehouse into a stunning aesthetic salon called Mouiller. Located in Osaka, Japan, this unique space combines the charm of old Japanese architecture with a modern and dynamic design.

The building, originally constructed as a warehouse, has been completely renovated to create a simple yet captivating interior. Ohe's vision was to maintain the building's original character while infusing it with a mix of Eastern and Western influences.

One of the standout features of Mouiller is its atrium, which spans from the first floor to the ceiling of the second floor. This 10-meter-high space adds a sense of dynamism and openness to the salon, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere.

The first floor of Mouiller is an open space that houses the reception area, interview space, and event space. On the second floor, the focus shifts to privacy, with treatment booths and powder rooms providing a serene environment for clients.

The treatment booths on the second floor are designed in concentric circles, with a large circular public sofa at the center, resembling a monument. This layout not only adds visual interest but also ensures privacy for clients during their treatments.

Ohe's attention to detail is evident in the choice of materials used in the renovation. The original finishing materials from 90 years ago were preserved, while new materials were seamlessly integrated. The ceiling features wood planks, the walls are adorned with plaster, paint, tile, and wallpaper, and the floors showcase a combination of wood flooring, mortar, and tile.

Mouiller is a testament to Ohe's ability to transform a historic building into a contemporary space that exudes elegance and sophistication. The design seamlessly blends traditional and modern elements, creating an aesthetic salon that is both visually stunning and functional.
